Chief Executive Group seeks an enthusiastic Staff Accountant to provide day-to-day support of the accounting function across our three divisions, including account reconciliation, A/R processing, and assistance with monthly reporting. This is a remote position, but candidates should be in eastern or central time zones.
Key Responsibilities:
- Month-End Close Process: Preparation and completion of the month-end close process, ensuring that all entries are posted on time and accurately.
- General Ledger Maintenance: Assist in maintaining the company’s general ledger by ensuring that all financial transactions are accurately recorded and categorized.
- Account Reconciliation: Reconcile balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Financial Reporting: Preparation of monthly financial statements, ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Journal Entries: Prepare and post company and intercompany journal entries for routine and non-routine transactions.
- Payroll Processing: Process payroll on a semi-monthly basis for all employees, ensuring that wages, commissions, overtime, deductions, and benefits are calculated accurately.
- Accounts Payable: Approve vendor invoices, process bills payments, and manage cash balances.
- Accounts Receivable: Generate and issue invoices to customers based on sales contracts.
- Payment Posting: Accurately post customer payments, including checks, ACH transfers, and credit card payments, into the accounting system.
- Aging Reports: Prepare and analyze accounts receivable aging reports to identify overdue accounts. Follow up on past due accounts and collaborate with the sales department as needed.
- Ad hoc Reporting: Provide ad hoc financial reports and analysis to management as requested.
- Internal Controls Compliance: Maintain adherence to internal controls to ensure compliance with company procedures and accounting standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- 4+ years of related work experience, as well as working knowledge of general financial accounting principles
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines; experience working in high volume accounting preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook) and QuickBooks
- Working knowledge of Bill.com desired but not required
