Description:

We are seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable accounting professional to join our Client Accounting and Advisory service line within our specialized dental practice niche. As a Senior Accounting Associate, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of accounting functions and providing financial expertise to our clients. Your role will involve complex financial analysis, financial planning, and participation in critical decision-making processes within client organizations.

The ideal candidate will be a self-disciplined team player with a strong work ethic and excellent judgment. This candidate should also have the ability to approach tasks in a systematic, efficient nature and to thrive in a highly independent and predictable environment.

This is a fully remote position, working with a virtual team and dental clients across the country. Requires successful demonstration via assessment of standard skills and competencies required for role.

 

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Financial Analysis and Reporting:
    • Conduct comprehensive financial analysis to assess the financial health and performance of clients' businesses.
    • Prepare and review accurate and insightful financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and variance analyses.
    • Mentor & train more inexperienced staff
  • Financial Planning and Budgeting:
    • Collaborate with clients to develop financial plans and budgets aligned with their strategic objectives.
    • Assist clients in forecasting future financial performance and identifying areas for improvement or cost-saving opportunities.
    • Monitor actual financial results against budgeted figures, investigate variances, and provide actionable insights to clients.
  • Decision-Making Support:
    • Work closely with clients' management teams to analyze financial information and provide guidance for key business decisions.
    • Evaluate investment opportunities, pricing strategies, and cost management initiatives.
    • Assess the financial impact of potential business initiatives and advise clients on the most profitable courses of action.
  • Monthly Close and Tax Readiness:
    • Perform all functions necessary for the monthly close process, including preparing journals, adjustments, and reconciliations.
    • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations.
    • Collaborate with tax professionals to ensure tax readiness and provide necessary financial data for tax planning and preparation.
  • Client Management:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact and build strong relationships with assigned clients.
    • Address client inquiries, provide accounting expertise, and deliver exceptional customer service.
    • Proactively identify opportunities to enhance clients' financial operations, streamline processes, and improve financial performance.

What You Need to Succeed

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred  
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within a CPA firm or professional services environment
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis techniques, and financial reporting standards, as well as practical understanding of the different bases of accounting and how to apply them appropriately.
  • Proficient in using accounting software and financial management systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with clients and colleagues.
  • Knowledge of sales and use tax returns, personal property tax returns, fixed asset and depreciation schedules, and 1099s is a plus
  • Knowledge of QuickBooks, Microsoft Office 365, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Knowledge of Thomson Reuters’ CS Professional Suite preferred, not required
